Nike’s Pro-Hijab is in the stores now-All set to revolutionize women’s athletic wear.

There is no longer any doubt in the fact that Muslim women have made a prominent mark in all walks of life. From running successful organizations to winning global awards of brilliance, Muslim women from all over the world have made it clear that they are just as remarkable as anyone and refuse to be treated in any lesser way.

Their Hijab has always been a matter of controversy among the local public and fashionistas. Although, many international brands make sure that none of these women remains devoid of comfort and freewill, regarding lifestyle and clothing, when it comes to working in their respective fields as a part of their daily routine. These initiatives include introducing a headscarf as a part of brand’s products and honestly, they have done much to eradicate the taboo of Hijab from global communities.

Just recently, Mattel introduced ‘Hijabi Barbie’ inspired by Olympic fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad.

Nike decided to not remain behind the game and announced a line of Nike Hijab for women athletics in March, 2017.

The announcement took the internet by storm, spurring a series of debate about whether it is just a mocking, marketing propaganda or an actual effort towards Muslim women empowerment.

While most people supported this gesture and called it as a Revolution against prejudice...

...others were seen busy labeling it as an ‘Oppression advocate’ and ‘Just a clever marketing strategy’.

However, the negativity did not stop Nike from empowering Muslim women and taking a step against Islamophobia by releasing its product.

Nike Pro-Hijab was released in selective retailers from UAE to Sweden this week. It currently costs $35. The ad-campaign features Emirati figure-skater Zahra Lari, German boxer Zeina Nassar, Olympic fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad and goes by the line “Hijab is for everyone.”
